Generic Propecia is MALE ONLY medication not to be used by women. Propecia is in the FDA pregnancy category X. Women who are conceiving or planning to become pregnant are advised STRICTLY NOT TO handle broken or crushed tablets of Propecia. This medication might get absorbed by the skin.
Propecia is known to cause birth defects in developing male embryo. Contact with Propecia tablets must be avoided in all possible situations. However, exposure to the whole tablet is not harmful unless swallowed.
There is not much information whether or not propecia can pass into the breast milk. Being a MALE only medication, it is not meant to be used for women. However, avoid taking this medication if you are breast feeding your infant.
